On Saturday March 5, 2005 our Venturer Company undertook a overnight hike to gain more experience on winter camping. We arrived in the morning around 9:00, and we started by 9:30. We had brought sleds with us to help carry gear across the snowy ground. These proved to be quite an annoyance however, since they kept tipping over on the bumpy trails. We kept going at a steady pace untill we had lunch around 12:30. After that we kept going with few breaks untill about 4:00, where we found a suitable spot to camp. We set up are camp without difficulty and took it easy the rest of the night. We had mixed feelings on whether we were cold or warm throughout the night, but we made it through the night ok thanks to warm sleeping bags. After a reasonably good nights sleep we woke up in the morning and had a quick breakfast then broke camp. We were out by 10:00. We hiked another two hours with a break or two sprinkled in and arrived at our cars a little after 12:00.
